On Jul 19, 2008, OSCAR numbers were given to our 3rd satellite Cute-1.7 + APD II (CUBESAT-OSCAR-65 or CO-65) and the Nihon University's SEEDS II (CO-66) from the AMSAT-NA president, Mr.William Tynan (W3XO).
Cute-1.7 + APD II became the 3rd OSCAR satellite developed by the Lab. for Space Systems(LSS), Tokyo Tech.
"OSCAR" is short for Orbiting Satellite Carrying Amateur Radio and OSCAR numbers are given to accepted amateur radio satellites.
We are extremely grateful to the all ham operators.
The following message is the e-mail from Mr.Tynan.
Mr. Ashida has requested an OSCAR number for Cute-1.7 + APD II and stated that it meets all of the requirements for issuance of such a number.
Therefore, by the authority vested in me by the AMSAT-NA President, I hereby issue Cubstat OSCAR- 65 or CO-65 to this new Amateur Radio satellite.
Mr. Ashida and all who worked on Cute-1.7 + APD II are to be congratulated for the successful completion of this project.
AMSAT-NA is pleased to welcome CO- 65 into the family of amateur Radio satellites. We are hopeful that it will fulfill its intended mission of furthering education and increasing interest in the Amateur Radio space program. We congratulate Mr. Ashida and all who were responsible for designing, building, testing and launching this new Amateur Radio satellite and look forward to its long and productive life.
73 and best wishes,
William A. (Bill) Tynan, W3XO
